Ring bearer pillow

My cousin had his wedding this summer, for which I made the ring bearer pillow out of his grandmothers wedding dress. It was this hand made confection that had yards of ivory satin with a lace yoke and several dozen satin covered buttons all down the back .

I got an 8x8 goose down pillow form for the pillow and made a tiny little pillowcase with a lace band going across the front. I then sewed 5 buttons to the front, pulling down into the pillow form to create depth and indents. From there I hand stitched the casing closed and attached a button to each corner.

Then I took some Aida cloth and made what felt like a mile of bias tape out of the dress to hem it and sewed a loop for the buttons to each corner of the Aida cloth. The idea is that you can attach the back and on the back embroider the names and date of the couple on the back so that it can be passed down through the family and carry a small bit of history around with it.                                                      <3

It was a great night and a great party!
